Natural active ingredients based on healing knowledge of ancient cultures

What does Epikurion do?

Epikurion’s is a company that aims to revive world wide ancient knowledge of the healing properties of plants by constant scientific research and translate it into modern all-natural products. Epikurion’s philosophy requires multidisciplinarity: ethnobiologist, pharmacists, doctors and philologists are evolving a great number of secret ancient recipes of plant remedies from all over the world.
In cooperation with well-known scientific institutes such as the Stuttgart-based Fraunhofer institute for applied research, epikurion does not only verify the specificity and efficacy of the different herbs but also tests them extensively for skin kindness.

What are you going to do with the FASILIS voucher?

In ancient deliverances herbal essential oils were utilized to prevent and reverse infectious diseases. In the ancient Greece Hippocrates burned aromatic plants to help combat the epidemic of plaque in Athens. In the entry of the Asklepieion herbs were used for the disinfection of the surfaces and the air. For example they burned thyme for consecration and purification.

epikurion invests in finding high effective and modern systems of disinfection based on essential oils. Essential oils have broader spectrum of action, do not cause undesirable side effects, when properly used and, most impotently, do not induce bacterial tolerance. Therefore natural antibacterial products with essential oils are effective and safe hygienic and antiseptic personal and household tools.

Testing herbs with new methods

With the FASILIS voucher, epikurion has new possibilities to test some of the high effective herbs with new innovative methods to receive better results. With the expected results it will be possible to enter into new dimensions of disinfection with high market impact for epikurion.

Who are you working with?

epikurion will work with Encapson in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. After extensive comparisons of several facilities we feel this company will be able to test our ingredients.

What is the fit of this project with with epikurion's innovation activities?

epikurion sees this collaboration as a possibility to access new markets. Once the ingredients have been tested a lot of new business dimensions in disinfection are opening up.
 

What will the future look like?

Epikurion has a huge database of high effective ingredients and needs reliable partners to test all the opportunities. This cooperation may be the beginning of a long term cooperation.
